Should I trim my nails before I get a manicure?

I am a guy and never had a manicure before and was wondering if I should trim my nail before a go get a manicure. They are kind of long, and if I trim in I will fill like it is a wasted trip. What is your opinionShould I trim my nails before I get a manicure?
you can but you don't have to, ask the person to buff them it will make them shiny with out using a polish. it makes the nails look so healthy and clean. nothin worse that a guy with nasty hands.Should I trim my nails before I get a manicure?
Just let them handle it.
They trim them for you s part of the service. They will even make sure they are the right length for you!
No they do it for you
dont trim it
You don't have to, but it is suggested.

silk wraps are good, they're kind of $$ but worth it
acrylic tips. they last long time, you only get them filled every two weeks. i had them for a long time.

When i paint my nails i keep getting air bubbles what should i do?

If the nail polish is a solvent based and not an acrylic base..do not shake it..this will create bubbles same as shaking varnish that you paint with..read the label..if it is acrylic..then this is not the problemWhen i paint my nails i keep getting air bubbles what should i do?
It sounds like your nail polish is past its prime. Perhaps it is time for some new polish? When i paint my nails i keep getting air bubbles what should i do?
I read once not to shake nail polish up and down, but kind of roll it back and forth in your palms.

    good luck.
Get a better nail polish (:

    Try OPI.

    Its the BEST.

Why do my acrylic nails curve up?

This is the first time I've had them done professionally and they all curl up. I've had friends do them before and they did the same thing. Could it just be my nails? Why do my acrylic nails curve up?
Hmm, thats odd. I've never actually gotten mine done but my friend does all the time. Hers never curl up. But I think its not a big deal, cause hers actually used to a little, so just ask when you go back again.

My dog freaks out when we try to trim her nails. What can we do?

My 6-7 mo. old puppy absolutely FREAKS OUT when we try to cut her nails. She's never had a bad experience with nail clipping (we have known her since she was 2 weeks old, and were the first to ever cut her nails). She screams and whines as though we are beating her! We have tried holding her down, giving her treats during the nail clipping, nothing works. If she even SEES the nail clippers, she begins to whimper.

Any suggestions? Her nails are starting to get too long, and I have no idea what to do. Thanks in advance for any advice! My dog freaks out when we try to trim her nails. What can we do?
It's normal for a dog to freak about getting nails cut. especially at that age. What you want to do first is stop giving her treats to calm her. Giving treats and ';comforting'; only reinforces this behavior. Remember dogs are not human, and they have different motives than us. Every time you give her a treat or try to calm her when she's scared only tells her that this is what she's supposed to do.

After that take a moment every evening while you are watching tv or sitting at the computer and sit with her. Pick up each paw, and kind of massage, and hold them. After a while you can give a light tug on the toe nails. Dont bring out the clippers though, because obiviously she associates them with a clip now. Handling her paws often will get her used to this sensation. After she's comfortable with this, bring out the clippers but dont use them, sit them next to you and simply mess with her feet... eventually you'll be albe to clip her nails with no trouble. you may have to clip them one paw at a time over a day or two but it will get done stress free. Once you are done messing with her paws and she's calm(even if there is no clipping) then give her the treat. She will start to accociate you messing with her paws with the good, rather than accociating them with being scared.

EDIT: It's good that you cut her nails. Dog's nails can grow too long and get caught on things and rip off which is very painful.

Also don't worry that you've hurt her when she wines. Especially if you really havn't. She's figured out that the whining gets her attention. Sounding hurt when not is simply a defence mechanism all dogs are born with. It brings attention to the matter from the momma dogs when somthing could be the matter.

I hope this helps. My dog freaks out when we try to trim her nails. What can we do?
Take her to the vet before you cut her toes and

make her more scared than ever.
take him to a dog spa.
we have a dog, and he just squirms and wiggles, it might cost you but I'd say if all else fails let the vet do it, it's easier on you too.
Well, you've accidentally 'trained' her to freak out by not handling her feet....%26amp; many dogs are touch sensitive %26amp; have to be 'behavior shaped' when very young----but I bet a local groomer can cut her nails very cheaply. Of course, the groomer will put the dog on a table---so she's not on the floor, which is her territory, and she'll restrain the dog with a noose %26amp; might even have help, and start with the back nails first, and 'flip' the dogs front paws behind her so her feet aren't right up by her mouth. And....more important than anything, the dog groomer will be calm %26amp; act with confidence %26amp; not feed into the anxiety dynamic. You can learn to do this, too, by learning to train your dog other things %26amp; being in charge, but it's going to take weeks, possibly months of YOUR consistent behavior.
thank you for asking this question i have the same problem only with my cat sorry i cant give you an answer but good luck anyway
You could go to a groomer's and have nails clipped for a nominal fee and at the same time ask them to show you how to do it.

It helps to start by only tipping them a little so there is no chance of cutting one too short. Once one is cut too short they can get real temperamental about having them cut. The more you get the hang of it the easier it will be for you both. Sometimes if you try and restrain them to much it makes them more panicked.
    Leave her alone?
Try weaning her into it. At first, let her sniff the nail clipper and give her treats if she doesn't whine when she sees them.. then get her used to you holding her paw.. then introduce the nail clippers while you are holding the paw..Then get her used to the feeling of the nail clipper on her nail (but don't clip it yet). It will take time, but slowly introducing her to them can help a lot. Be sure to praise her with a happy yet soft voice, giving her lots of belly rubs and small amounts of treats. She will eventually be alright with it. Holding her down will only make her more anxious and afraid as she doesn't have any control and will only struggle worse (which can lead to cutting the nail too far back and clipping the vein inside it).
    try filing her nails isntead.
my dog hates clipping her nails to so we leave it to the perfessionals we take them to a pet salon every so many months that it looks like she needs a nail cut
Give her Chamomile tea. Just dump the dry tea out of the bag, and mix in a little canned food, or something soft that she likes. One teaspoon for a small dog, up to one tablespoon for a large dog. Feed it to her about 30 minutes before you are ready to clip her nails, and it will relax her and diminish the stress and anxiety.

a note to above answer: It is never too early to clip nails! I clip puppies' nails at 2 1/2 weeks, to keep them from scratching mom as they nurse. The sooner you begin clipping nails, the less it bothers the dog. Many breeds are to be shown, ';up on their feet'; so nails need to be kept very short from birth..some of these breeds are Dobermans, Boxers, Doxies, most terriers, Bosties, and many others. You never want to see a splayed foot on these breeds, and that happens quickly if you don't keep nails trimmed.
Take her to a doggy salon and have them do it?

My dog doesn't like it either but she is very patient at the same time. She doesn't yap like your dog. I would just leave your dog alone for the time being and try it again on another day where maybe you can get her off guard.

    MJ
please do not drop her off at some dog salon just to get her toenails cliped it does not solve the problem she will soon accociate that place with toe nale clipping and not want to go or even start biting.

get her to lay on her side or during a calm time play with her feet go between the pads and pull on nails -GENTLY- get her used to you being down there. all you can do is praise praise praise find a favorie treat for when your done. my dog always gets a greenie when shes done . then slowly bring the nail clippes in to view closer and closer till she doesnt care that they are there. then slowly incorperat the clipers instead of pulling and as she stays calm then you calmly praise her.

as for now if they are getting long call your vet and have him do it till you are able to do it yourself. also he can show you how far down to go too. or give you advice on how to do it at home

my dog plays dead and i can trim her pad hair too. it takes a lot of patients and a lot of just messing with her feet but if you keep it up she will get used to it.
Don't trim her nails at first. Take the clippers out once a day, and while you are playing with her, keep them within sight. Once she is okay with that, get her to roll on her belly and rub the clippers all over her body for a few days, until she isn't scared of it. Then, try clipping just one nail. Praise her a lot, and once the nail has been trimmed, play with her and keep the clippers in sight. Soon you will be able to clip all her nails.

Also, when you clip her nails, have someone hold her leash, and keep her standing. Lift one paw up, and clip them like that instead of flipping her over. That is more natural for dogs, so they won't feel as scared of things standing as when they are on their back.
our dog is 3 years old and hates it. Its just in some dogs nature. When we are finished I give her a treat or a special bone and reassure her what a good dog she was. She still doesn't care for it, but she lets me do it.

    Good Luck
try putting the dog in a pillow case covering hre head then hurry and not make any real deep painful cuts and give a treat afterwards. You might try getting an association with the pillow case and treats then introduce the clippers.

We have two Doxies, brother and sister, he has no problem, she on the other hand is a holy terror

    Good luck
When you bring her to get clipped, maybe they will do her nails too. I'm not sure what breed you have though. I don't really think you should be doing it, unless you know what you're doing anyway.
restrain her.. get some one to hold her head against your upper are/chest.. or try giving treats .. put her on her back and hold her down and give it a go.. it hurts some dogs even if you do not cut too short
My Old English Sheepdog refused to allow me to trim his nails using dog nail clippers, he would let me use an electric Dremel file on them though (go figure). Other alternatives are you can take her to Petco or Petsmart and have them do her nails for 8 dollars. You can walk her more often so that they ware down naturally.
She obviously thoroughly dislikes being held down (it's probably THAT more than the actual clipping).

Take her once every month or two to a dog groomer--they have a special knack for this.

Good luck with your furry baby!

    .
let the dog sniff the nail clippers, then begin. if still freaks out, try putting a towel over its eyes, then begin clipping. try talking to the doggy and explain what you're doing to he/she.
Get the vet or groomer to do it. She might need to be muzzled, but once she realizes it doesn't hurt, she'll stop whining.
I would take her to petco and let them do it for you its only $8 and they do a great job and you can stay there the whole time it is very dangerus to cut her nails when she is pulling and squirming around so be very carfull when you do try it yourself
Hmmmmm.. are you sure that this isn't causing her any pain of any sort? Do her paws have any symptoms of soreness?
Wait until she is asleep then try it gently. My family's cat is a difficult one to do this with too and its the only time we can trim her nails. She usually wakes up after we do 2-3 though.
When I got my puppy, my vet told me to play with her feet all the time. Just hold them and pet them, things like that. Eventually she was supposed to not care if i touched her paws, making it easier to cut her nail. That didn't work for me. Now I just take her to the groomers or vet and they will cut them for around 10 bucks. Well worth it!!!
you can take her to a groomer or the vet. but until she learns it's ok, they are also going to have to fight with her. get a pair of nail trimmers. first when she's relaxed and laying with you, play with her feet. play with each individual toe and then down to the nail. she'll learn to associate having her feet messed with positivly then. take the nail trimmers and just make them part of your foot massage routine. if you think you have a chance trim one nail. then continue to play with her feet without trimming anymore. do one nail a day for a week, or really 16-18 days. then move to two. then so on. if she fights you, don't fight her. it will only increase her panic. when she lets you trim one, praise her. also while you're at it, play with her ears and mouth and get her used to someone messing with them also. your vet will love you for this. good luck. she just needs to learn that you messing with her feet is not always a bad experience.
    I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

WHAT I DID IS: HAVE ONE PERSON (SITTING DOWN) HOLD THE DOG IN A SITTING POSITION ON THE EDGE OF THEIR KNEES, WHERE THE DOG TOE NAIL IS EXPOSE.

THEN COVER HER WITH A TOWEL WHILE THE PERSON THAT IS HOLDING HER, PETS HER (RIGOROUSLY) AND TALK TO HER.

THEN U SHOULD QUICKLY WITHOUT TOUCHING HER FEET, CUT NAIL.

IF U ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GRAB HER FEET, PUSH HER PAW BACK SO THAT IT BECOME AN L SHAPE (WONT HURT HER). THAT SHOULD GIVE YOU ABOUT 5 SECOND TO CUT HER FIRST NAIL. THEN JUST REPEATED FOR THE REST.
Shes to young to have her nails trimmed, but if you absolutely insist on having them trimmed take her to a dog groomer. You might cut to close and make her bleed
    cut her paws off.

i had that same problem until i got braces and i stopped.
I do the same.. get acrylic nails. Once I get it done, I stop because I don't want to pay again.
Apply clear nail polish. It'll make them shiny and prevent you from peeling at your nails. Then again you might start scratching off the polish for fun.
Yes I can tell you how to stop. Get artificial nails put them over your real nails. If you don't want to go that route... rub a garlic clove over your nails, this smell will keep you from doing this.
Instead of picking buff them. they sell them for a couple bucks at drug stores. it will make it so your nails dont peel...no peeling, no picking...and it keeps your hands are busy.
Ok There a special nail polish for that so all you have to do is buy it you can ingd it at wallmart target or walgreens maybe even rite aid but i know definitley wallmart and yeah its usually a clear color and sometimes its clear but has color oh and when your bored in class just pass notes LOL Just Kidding!!No but seriously thats what i do DONT GET CAUGHT!!! I've been getting my nails professionally manicured for the past 5 years. I have a manicure about every two to three weeks, and I love having it done. It's very relaxing, and I like my nails to look really nice. I get a lot of compliments. I wear my nails quite long (for a guy) - about 5-7mm past the fingertip, and I have them finished in a clear glossy polish as part of my manicure. Between manicures I clean them myself twice daily and apply OPI Nail Envy (gloss or matt, depending on my mood) as strengthener every other day. Having my nails done makes me feel really good about myself and gives me confidence.Do girls like guys who like to have their nails done at the beauty salon?
    Hi

My nails are real. I've never worn acrylics or any other type of false nails. I'm lucky that I've been blessed with really strong and healthy nails, which allows me to wear them long. When I stop working I'm intending to grow them longer - hopefully up to an inch or so past the fingertip.

Dude seriously, we don't need you to undergo all of those metrosexual beauty habits for us to appreciate you more. We totally accept that men are more rugged than us. Although, a well kept man is highly distinguishing and can be sexy.
getting them done is fine i guess, but coloring them is just a lil 2 wierd, thats my opinion
have you ever been punched in the face for seemingly no reason by a complete stranger?

if so then its because you get your nails done,,
not me. i like more rough on the edges kinda guy. thats way too metrosexual for me.
yes i like that you do this-but color is saying maybe you are gay-if not gay don't get color-but please keep up the good work-it means you got class
    for me it depends....what color?? black is cool but other than that....idk----- but my friends think its hot wen dudes do things that are supposedly ';for chicks onli';
its fine as long as you dont get them painted. besides who wants crusty feet?
idk depends on the girl...i personally think thats really hott...but maybe not to someone else
Well, usually guys that do that are gay, but if a guy is straight and does that, then I do not find that attractive at all.
    wow..

If you're not gay.. no women do not like that sorry.

Black maybe.. but I won't even get mine done b.c im not that much of a *****
    one word GAY
if they just get it cut and buffed and stuff i wouldnt care but if a guy wore nailpolish i would kind of think he was odd
Hmm i don't think it would bother me... I'm a very open person
i love a guy who gets manicures %26amp; pedicures...but it has to be a sports manicure and the only polish he better be wearing is clear...if that!
no...if dey du der nailz painted dey r simply known az GAYZ.....
I just read your other questions and found out why you like to get your nails done. and thats okay

but my opinion is that I like when guys are more naturel I guess. like they care what the look like but they dont go to extremes like getting nails done I guess..

but if your g/f is okay with you doing that stuff its okay I guess. and even if shes not okay with it then you shouldnt be with her because I think its more important to be yourself. but it seems like she is okay with it lol
Actually, my guy friend works at a bank so he gets his nails done to make it look neat (no one wants to see ugly fingernails!). We would go get it done together sometimes, as odd as that sounds. But I would still find it odd if a guy painted his nails...
You would possibly be what some would label a metrosexual. There are a good handful of guys who enjoy getting manicures and pedicures since it's considered a form of good hygiene, but color on the nails (and on toenails) is a pretty conspicuous sign that you're, well, actively tapping into your feminine side I guess. Which by no means is a bad thing, but unless you're straight and don't want others to misconstrue your sexual orientation, avoiding color, especially on the toenails (pretty questionable) is a considerably effective way to land you more or less in the ';maybe not so gay'; category. It depends.

But in short, straight girls typically do not dig sexually questionable men.
    u honestly sound gay

Can you get a french manicure without getting fake nails?

I get my french manicure in my nails all the time. you can go to the nail place and they will do it for you or you can go to walmart or target and there is some kits with strips that help you do it by ur self its simple. either way make sure you wear the bottom and top coat to make it last longer and make sure it is any of the ones that make ur nails hard like the products from sally so the nail polish stays in longer! good luck! Can you get a french manicure without getting fake nails?
you Don't have to get fake nails to get a french manicure. But honstly the fake nails with the manicure looks way better, and it lasta longer. But it is more expensive.

    Hope i helped=]
Its just done with polish you don't need fake nails
Nope. they can do it on your own nails, it just won't last as long.
Grow your nails out and you'll be fine.
    Psh no.
Naw...you don't have to get fake nails
    yes

What's the difference between a clear base coat and a clear over coat in painting your nails?

The base coat smooths out the surface of the nail, helps the nail colour bond to the nail, and protects the nail colour from staining your nails. The clear overcoat prevents chipping, makes your nails shinier, smooths out rough patches, and makes the polish last longer.

I just buy the 2 in 1 base and top coats, it saves money and works just as well.

But regular clear nail polish is not a good idea for top/base coat, although it works great as a makeshift nail polish remover! :)What's the difference between a clear base coat and a clear over coat in painting your nails?
the purpose of the base coat is to protect the surface of your nail from being damaged or stained by the nail polish you use over it, while the top coat is used to keep your nail polish from chipping and protects it so you can wear it longer. :]What's the difference between a clear base coat and a clear over coat in painting your nails?
The base coat is to protect the nail from the nail polish and damage. The over coat is to protect the nail polish and to keep it on longer. Its also added for shine.

I haven't tried GNC's but I have tried Futurebiotics. It seemed to help but remember nails grow 1/8 inch a month and hair 1/2 inch per month so it will take a long time to see the results. Good luck and be patient.

Plato defined humans as featherless, bipedal animals with broad nails--what do you think of that definition?

[Source: 'Lives of Eminent Philosophers' by Diogenes Laertius]

Do you have a better definition?

Thank you for any and all answers.

Blessings :)Plato defined humans as featherless, bipedal animals with broad nails--what do you think of that definition?
As usual, Dr. Y does a thoroughly and completely well examined off-topic answer. The definition of anything is comprised of its essence, that which makes it unique from other similar species within its genus.

Aristotle gave us the definition has withstood the test of time, and it surprises me after bringing in Aristotle that Y didn't say it: the rational animal.

    When Aristotle called us ';animal'; he automatically included all that stuff that Y methodically listed. But in all of that the only thing that sets ';homo sapiens sapiens'; apart from his nearest cousin the chimp is ';rationality.'; Homo sapiens has been extinct for almost 200,000 years, but he too, was ';the rational animal.'; The first rational animal was ';homo habilis';. He was human, but he was certainly not ';homo sapiens sapiens.';

A ';featherless, bipedal animal with broad nails'; makes an attempt at a physical description, yet leaves much to the imagination. Aristotle isn't interested in a physical description because it is not our essence. We are the only creature with reason, and that singularity causes it to be our essence.

But we are upright, bipedal and naked. Homo habilis was upright, bipedal, and almost naked. And that is where the modern question, of whether a species from another planet that looks even remotely similar to us, is genetically different, yet is a ';rational animal';, ought to be called ';human.'; We don't argue about whether that creature, when we find him, ought to be called ';homo sapiens sapiens';. That is out of the question, because it designates a species of a genus; the alien would not belong in it. The alien would belong in its own species and genus.

But it would still be animal, and rational. So would we want to include it in the broad definition of ';human';? What can i do to make my nails grow b/c im premature and i have problems w/ nail growth?

how can i get my nails to grow faster? What can i do to make my nails grow b/c im premature and i have problems w/ nail growth?
You mean... you were a premature baby? Lol! What would that have to do with your nails? I mean unless you had hypothyroid maybe or a skin disorder... The only thing that is supposed to help (but honestly it doesn't do much) is biotin. Use moisturizer. What can i do to make my nails grow b/c im premature and i have problems w/ nail growth?
theres a few products out there but ive never gotten much luck using them, your best bet is to live healthy, your bones nails and teeth will reflect that. Calcium is what you need.
you need to get your nails to be strong. there is this clear nail polish that makes your nails harder. maybe if you use something like that then after a while your nails should grow.

    How to stop biting nails?

I have been biting my nails, for nineteen years and can't stop? I want to let them grow, but i do not know what can i do so that they can grow. I need help! How to stop biting nails?
I had the same problem for just about as long and tried lots of things but only one worked.

Put a rubber band around your wrist. Every time you find yourself biting your nails, pull the band and let it snap against your wrist. It stings just a little, but pretty soon you have trained your subconscious that biting the nails hurts and you will quit. How to stop biting nails?
I have the problem too, and I bought something to put on your nails that made them taste very bad, after a time, it worked, and I had a whole year very beautiful nails, but then there were the exams and I started all over again, .. Just when you start to bite, say to yourself, ';don't do it, I will get beautiful nails' and then you'll be rewarded by many complements :d!

And if you want to make your nails stronger and make them grow faster, then you can buy supplements (made of fish though).. It makes your breath smell just a little bit.. But it benefits your hair and your nails! x
if you wear acrylic nails done by the salon you wont b able to bite your real nails off due to the plastic tip glues on them and if you ite a nail and crack it, most likely your real nail will crack and hurt really bad.

    but also...

Paint a bitter-tasting polish, such as CONTROL-IT or Thum, on your nails. The awful taste will remind you to stop every time you start to bite your nails.

I used to bite my nails for as long as I can remember. I tried loads of stuff, nasty tasting nail varnish to plasters :S

It sounds weird but the trick is just not to put your fingers anywhere near your mouth.

Don't even suck them or anything.

I know have lovely long nails %26amp; even have the privelage of clipping them when they get too long :P

    x
    1. Buy disgusting tasting nail polish and paint that on your nails.

    2. Will power!

    3. Get a nice manicure/ paint your nails nicely so you don't want to bite them

    4. Get a friend to annoy you every time you bite them
Go to a pharmaci and buy ';stop and grow'; its like 2 $ and t tastes discusting and it also makes your nails grow faster :D
All I do is constantly paint them. The flavour is disgusting and the thought of swallowing all those nasty chemicals isn't very appealing.
You can try painting them. That usually helps because most people don't like the taste of nail polish.Or try chewing gum so your distracted from them.
    There is a pepper sauce that yo would put on the tips of your nails. when you bite your nails with this stuff on it it will burn your mouth and psychologically will say ';don't bite your nails';
lol i have the same problem and ive been doing if for a while 2... i wish i knew that answer... sry i couldnt help much but... at least your not the only one who cant stop
theres this nail polish that taste really bad so u wont bite it i forget wats its called though just go to a drug store like ride aid
keep telling yourself it looks gross when people bite their nails.. you're nails just look awkard

Can you take acrylic nails off yourself?

I'm gonna wear them for only a week or less.

If you can, please explain how.

If you can't, then how much does it cost at a salon? Can you take acrylic nails off yourself?
IF YOU ARE GOING TO WEAR THEM FOR A WEEK THEN WHY NOT MAKE IT TWO BECAUSE THATS WHEN YOUR REAL NAILS START GROWING AND IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR A FILL IN AND THEN TAKE THEM OFF. DON'T WASTE A FRESH PAIR OF NAILS AND IF YOU MUST TAKE THEM OFF, PLEASE GO TO A SALON BECAUSE THEY KNOW WHAT TO DO AND IT'S ONLY $10 THATS $5 FOR EACH HAND AND IF YOU TRY THIS AT HOME YOU MAY PULL OFF SOME OF YOUR REAL NAIL

AND THIS IS PAINFULL, ALSO IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO KEEP THEM BUT FOR A WEEK WHY DON'T YOU JUST GET THE GLUE ON NAILS?Can you take acrylic nails off yourself?

You can take Acrylic off yourself....nail polish remover can take them off...If you go to a salon it cost 10 dollars to get them removed..well it cost that much at every place i went
yea you an take them off yourself but it really hurts u should go get them taken off instead at a salon
Costs about 10 bucks at a salon. But you can soak them in actetone nail polish remover. DONT PRY THEM OFF!!!
me again, don't take them off yourself. i did that the first time i got my nails done..and that is the easiest way to wreck your nails. I soaked my fingers in a jar of some ';nail remover'; from the grocery store...and they were a mess. especially if you're a newbie to nails..ask your nailgirl what would be the best thing to do to remove them yourself if thats what you want to do.
yes acrylic nails can be removed, with a small round bowl, pour acetone, bought from most stores(like Winn Dixie)about half full, or half empty, then soak for about 20-30 minutes. Then they should dissolve off. The cost of a 12 oz bottle runs around $1.50 TO $2.00; AT a salon it will cost more.

Is it safe to use super glue to put false nails on with?

i no it will make my nails weak ect dont care bout that as long as its not dangerous in any other way? and yes i no befor people tell me you get nail glue with them but there all pretty crap tbh and never last for me so im going to try super glue so any advice people can give me would be great thanks xIs it safe to use super glue to put false nails on with?
ive done it :) its safe, just as long as you use a solvent to get it off or else it will ruin your nail (as with all nail glues) and be careful if it gets on your skin, if you bite your nails you don't wanna eat the glue!! that would be horrible for you.Is it safe to use super glue to put false nails on with?
When you use super glue a bunch of gunky stuff will build up under your nails, causing an infection. This is the hardened glue being exposed to the germs of pretty much everything you touch. And with super glue your nails will be on for a long time. So the longer you have them on the more gunk builds up. and when they do finally come off it will hurt like hell because the hardened glue mixed with gunky stuff will be stuck to your nail and your false nail so you'll have to pull really hard and you could suffer from pulling part of your actual nail off.

    In other words, BAD IDEA
DON'T PUT SUPERGLUE ON UR FINGERNAILS!!!!!!!! IT MAY BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THEM WITHOUT REMOVING UR REAL NAILS AS WELL!
NO! Very stupid idea! The nails will be stuck on your nails for a very long time! I would not do that because you will really hate it. You will get sick of the nails and they will get uncomfortable.
Not if you don't want fake nails on for a looong time
    Nail glue = Super Glue

They both contain the SAME active ingredients, which is either cyanoacrylate, or ethyl cyanoacrylate - depending on the brand (some may contain cyanoacrylate esters instead, it depends). Compare the labels of any so-called 'nail' glues to any brand of 'super' glues, and you will see this for yourself. Just a simple clarification, thats all.

Having said that, the answer is yes, you can use 'super' glue on press on nails. Or you can use nail glue. No difference between the two.

Is it safe to use? Yes. But it is possible that there could be some damage to your natural nails if you forcibly remove the press on nails, or if they come off from accidently banging them, etc. And this could happen no matter what your choice of glue is. The damage could range from minor (tearing a few layers of your nail off, which is most likely to occur - ouch!) to major damage (ripping part, or all of your natural nail completely off - much less likely to happen, though still possible - major pain in this case!). To minimize any possible damage to your natural nails, apply a coat of clear polish prior to applying the press on nails. Let it dry completely before applying the press on nails. The polish will form a barrier between your natural nails, and the glue. This will also make them come off easier when it comes time to remove them, and will protect them if they come off accidently for whatever reason . But, if you want to keep them for a while, then don't use the clear polish, but then, the risk of damage increases! So, its really a trade off. But, do be careful with them either way, and you should be just fine. I hope that helps.

    How do remove fake nails?

I just got fake nails for the first time. and i don't want to go back to the nail salon to get them removed because it will hurt. how do i remove them without it hurting? How do remove fake nails?
Get strong nail polish remover. Pour the nail polish remover into

like a bowl and let your fingers soak in it. It will make the fake nails

start to come loose. You might have to take them off you might not.

It won't hurt though once they've become loose. How do remove fake nails?
ok well i get my nails done alll the time and i would take them off my self. there rele is no way to take them of without hurting if you do it your self because it rips at your real nail. if you go to the salon it rele doesnt hurt. but it takes a long time. they soke your nails in this stuff for like 20-30 mins them they just peal of because they are like melting off but its doesnt hurt.
i have worn fake nails before, all you have to do is fill a plastic cup and put in some nail polish remover in it. You soak your nails in it until you can feel them begin to loosen. then carefully peel them off ;)

    Best of luck!
soak them in nail varnish remover for 5 minutes, if they not wobbly when u pull them out, five mins more.. it works for mee hun gd luck xxx

    When Aristotle called us ';animal'; he automatically included all that stuff that Y methodically listed. But in all of that the only thing that sets ';homo sapiens sapiens'; apart from his nearest cousin the chimp is ';rationality.'; Homo sapiens has been extinct for almost 200,000 years, but he too, was ';the rational animal.'; The first rational animal was ';homo habilis';. He was human, but he was certainly not ';homo sapiens sapiens.';

If we found a featherless, bipedal animal with broad nails on another planet and it was not rational, that would blow away Plato's definition. But if we found another ';rational animal'; that looked like a racoon, we would have to change the description of man to distinquish it from the ';rational racoon.';Plato defined humans as featherless, bipedal animals with broad nails--what do you think of that definition?
Tsk. Back to the books for you. Since when is the 'essence' of something what makes it DIFFERENT from other things? Aristotle would be mortified.

What colors do you use most often on your nails?

whether you do them yourself or get them done, what colors do you use most often? and how long are they? mine are long and i always use clear or frenchWhat colors do you use most often on your nails?
Deep reds and purples or subtle pinks and beiges. I really like ones from Essie (about $6 each.)What colors do you use most often on your nails?
I either get a french manicure or get them painted hot pink! :)
i always do black if i do a color. but i am trying to just do clear, cuz i have a nervous habit where i chip it all off without noticing!! haha. so the clear seems to work for me.
mine are medium and i have black ( not goth like if you have seen The Hills, Lauren and Heidi always have black. it looks really cute) Or french manicure.
i often use clear or deep purple, i always keep them pretty short too
I usually get a french tip done on my nails, sometimes instead of white I get the tip painted black or sliver instead, it looks hot. I use black on my toenails sometimes, which is really cute. Also my favorite colors are light pinks and bright corals.
PINK :) its fun, cutee and flirty
All do mine in all kinds

of way since my mom used to work at a nail salon

    *French

    *French w/ flowers

    *Pink w/ purple flowers

    *HotPink

    *Silver

Those are just some of the ways.
I usually get the pink tones and sometimes pretty reds.. I have acrylics so i sometimes get them trimmed but they are long but not tacky long.. i sometimes get french's but usually just for special events like dances and stuff so it matches my dress
if they r real i prefer shorter but not 2 short and 4 short nails i usually do red or black (%26amp; no i'm not gothic, it is cute) %26amp; 4 long nails i say always french when i get them done long %26amp; fake i only do french but whe they r real %26amp; short the colors above. i also do a black tip it looks really cute. i have done my whole nail either hot pink or black w/ a white tip, real nice look.~

What can udo to stop myself form biting my nails?

i bite them ALOT and i always try to stop bu it never works.=[

any ideas? What can udo to stop myself form biting my nails?
you can buy a nail polish called stop and grow it sometimes works but i find that i sometimes forget or purposly dont put it on in the mornings. dont apply before eating because the taste goes on everything! What can udo to stop myself form biting my nails?
You should have posted what you tried and didn't work so we don't offer that solution as one. OK? I did this, and I have the most beautiful hands. Don't stop the habit, change the habit. Instead of biting them, just put them on your teeth and go slowly slide them in between the natural separation of your teeth. That helped me. Good luck!!
    try this....

wrap your finger tips with medical tape(surgical tape) covering all your nails fully for maximum time of your day....

this worked very nicely with one of my friend

How can I keep the top layer of my nails from peeling off?

There's this amazing product by Neo Strata that works great. My mom had the same problem and she used every product form Mavella to all the other brands. BUT Neo-ceuticals by Neo Strata worked magic for her. It was great. When you want to get it you should ask for instructions too. You will see the results in a maximum of 1 month.

Good luck! :)How can I keep the top layer of my nails from peeling off?
better keep nail polish every weekHow can I keep the top layer of my nails from peeling off?
use sally hansen hard as nails nailpolish or try taking calcium pills!! They will make them stronger and besides it good for you!!
take a look at products you handle on a routine basis, such as copy paper and consider using healthcare type gloves. The chemicals we come in contact with daily are murder on our nails. Also, contrary to popular belief, a lot of over the counter nail polishes and clear coats will actually eat away at the layers of your nails.

How hard is it to do your own acrylic nails?

I'm pretty good at doing things myself, i file and shape the glue on kind and use those now but I'd like to do something that lasts a little longer and i'm too cheap to go to a nail salon, and they're as*holes anyway. I've seen videos on youtube and it looks fairly easy but the part where you have to dip the powder in the liquid and spread it on your nail looks kinda difficult..is it hard to get it even? any tips or an idea of how much practice it takes?

thanks!!How hard is it to do your own acrylic nails?
It sounds crazy hard but is simple once you get the hang of it. Buy the tips, cuticle pusher (if you don't have one), and acrylic powder. You can buy the 'acrylic nail set' that comes with everything but tips for $25.

You may have a harder time going your left hand, but im sure you'll get the hang of if.How hard is it to do your own acrylic nails?
i've used them before, it gets easier each time you do it. but maybe try a friend doing it for you because it's hard to do on your right hand if you're right handed vise versa. my friend does them herself or has her mom do them and they look perfessionally done..make sure u buff them down and they're smooth and they're bbe fine :)

Have extremely brittle nails, they keep breaking off very easily. Is there any home remedy?

I have tried acrylic nails and extensions but that has not helped. I want to try some natural home remedy. I also eat calcium tablets but that also does not seem to be much help.Have extremely brittle nails, they keep breaking off very easily. Is there any home remedy?
I have heard that there is a clear nail strengthening solution that you apply like nail polish but other than that I don't knowHave extremely brittle nails, they keep breaking off very easily. Is there any home remedy?
i read somewhere that either you have good nails or bad nails. I was also born with bad nails and there's no remedy. BUT acrylics make em worst
Zinc would be better than calcium.
You need more protein in your diet. And stay away from all fake nails as they ruin your real nails in the long run and that's why you haven't been able to get the growth you desire.
my nails are pretty weak too. try putting on a clear coat of nail polish or strenthening nail polish. my grandma uses saly handsen's 'hard as nails' and swears by it.
Taking zinc does actually help. It sounds crazy but pre-natal vitamins have all the nutrients to help nails grow. Gelatin works but tastes disgusting! Sally Hansen has a cuticle cream (nail strengthening) that worked wonders for me. Apply it twice daily. Theres also a clear coat called ';nail envy'; that helps keep them from cracking. Lastly, stay away from acrylics, I know its tempting but don't do it. I had them on for 10 yrs straight. Its been 2 now without and I still have ridges!!My nails will never be the same, but with the above mentioned have made awesome improvements.
Years ago they said that if you drink unflavored gelatin it will help your nails grow harder. I never have tried that. If you do an internet search you may find out more about this.
Extremely brittle nails may be a sign of a fungal infection of the nails or other underlying disease. You might want to get it checked out before indulging in the accessories.
This will sound bizarre, but it works for me and if you are otherwise at the end of your rope you should give it a try. Massage your nails twice daily with a product called ';Hoofmaker'; which is sold in pet stores - it is used on horse hoofs. Classical guitar teachers recommend it for building up nails to be able to use them to play classical guitar, where a pick is not used.

    * Nails grow faster in warm climates and fastest in the summer.

    * Nails grow 20 percent faster when a body is fighting off the flu.

    * Extreme dieting slows nail growth.

    I'd go on vacation! :)
    Eat lots of gelatin.
I don't know if this is true. Someone told me if you tap the top of you nail against the table they grow faster.
Eat alot of food with gelatin.. for example jello, or if you like gummy bears... or you can buy vitamins at your local health food store that are formulated for hair and nails.
I was told that if you find a nice hand lotion that you like, you should use it and push your cuticles back, a few times a day. The massaging of your cuticles is what makes your nails grow.
dont cut them often. let them grow long. and then cut. keep doing this and ur nail lenth will increase after a period of time.
Prenatal vitamins. I swear by them. My hair and nails grew faster when I took them. Also eating gelatin will help your nails grow longer and harder.
Keep them painted with Hard-as-Nails polish by Sally Hansen. Or spend extra money on weekly or bi-weekly manicures.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT IS.... GARLIC.....100% NOT LYING.
    slow everything else down!
Get really good fake ones that look natural. My girlfriend had those, and they felt real good when she slapped me.

How to Grow my Nails Faster and Stronger

Nails are made up of dead keratin tissues containing fat and water. They are non-organic and do not perform any function. But they are prone to several problems such as turning brittle, deformed, growing slowly, or getting exposed to various infections such as fungus or algae. A good nail is smooth, pink in color and shaped evenly.

Brittle nail is a common problem that is caused by the loss of fat and water. To overcome this problem, there are a number of remedies. It is advised that you wear gloves or use a long handled mop to prevent your hands from dipping into water. To avoid the effects of dehydration do not use nail remover often. Just apply a single coat of nail polish to avoid using remover often.
