Are 3'; deck screws good to use in place of 16d nails?

I wanted to use 3'; square bids deck screws instead of 16d nails. Would it be safe? Are 3'; deck screws good to use in place of 16d nails?
yesAre 3'; deck screws good to use in place of 16d nails?
Depends on what you are asking of the screws. They are great for decks. They do not have good shear strength and the heads will pop off if screwed in too tight or without a pilot hole. If outside use galvanized screws or nails. Take an assessment of the requirements before deciding which item is right for the task.
Yes.The pilot hole idea is good especially with 3'; screws, you don't want to get half way in and strip the head or driver. That can be a real pain. good luck
I agree, If you're screwing into a 2 by framing member. I would also recommend a pilot hole so yo don't snap the screw heads off.

Good luck
most defintely.a screw will hold better and longer then a nail.
